RARE historical monograph on the work of the Society of Friends for refugees and aliens by the published historian Lawrence Darton (1914-2008), who registered as a conscientious objector at the start of the Second World War and undertook service with the Friends` Ambulance Unit working in hospitals in London`s East End, later becaming secretary to the Friends` Relief Service. This publication was printed on manual typewriter and thus some letters of the text are lighter than others and seem faded. 255x205mm.
