RARE lavishly illustrated second edition of `Quiet Days in Clichy`, a novella written by Henry Miller based on his experience as a Parisian expatriate in the early 1930s, when he and Alfred Perlès shared a small apartment in suburban Clichy as struggling writers, around the time Miller was writing `Black Spring`. The photographer who illustrated the book with wonderful b&w photographs is George Brassaï (pseudonym of Gyula Halász 1899-1984) - a Hungarian photographer, sculptor, writer, and filmmaker who lived most of his life in Paris. 175x105mm. 171 pages (photographs are not paginated). Illustrated Softcover. Cover, cover edges and corners rubbed. Front cover slightly stained. Spine wrinkled/worn. Spine bottom edge tattered and peeling. Spine front hinge peeling. Small sticker on front inner cover. Pages and text block edges slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare second edition of Henry Miller`s memoirs, published by the controversial Paris-based publisher Olympia Press with beautiful photographs by Brassaï, is in good condition.
