RARE book of 33 drawings to Hasidic legends by an eminent German-Jewish artist Rosy Lilienfeld (1896-1942), illustrating the short stories from Martin Buber`s collection of Hasidic lore `Die Legenden des Baalschem`. The tales are about the great Hasidic master Rabbi Yisroel (Israel) ben Eliezer (also called Baal Shem Tov or Besht) (ca.1700-1760). 285x230mm. 87 pages (33 b&w illustrations). Blue cloth Hardcover with gilt lettering on front cover. Cover edges slightly bumped, bottom corner bumped and peeling, upper corners rubbed. Cover and spine yellowing, stained and rubbed/scratched. Spine and spine edges bumped and peeling. Inner cover age-stained. Small stamp and dedication written in pen on title page. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare collection of exquisite sketches to Baalschem stories is in good condition.
