LIMITED EDITION - COPY No.276. RARE book of poems written in 1943 and 1944 in two concentration camps by the renowned concert pianist Ida Simons-Rosenheimer (1911-1960), who started a promising career in 1930, frequently performing with leading Dutch orchestras, including the Residentie Orchestra of Hague and the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, also working as an accompanist and chamber musician. During the war, the Simons family belonged to the so-called Barneveldgroep (`Barneveld Group`), made up of 645 Jews who were given certain protection by the Germans starting in 1942. Ida Simons-Rosenheimer arrived with her family at the De Schaffelaar castle in the Dutch town of Barneveld in 1943. The Simons family were then sent to Westerbork transit camp, where they were held from September 1943 to September 1944, and deported to Theresienstadt on September 4, 1944. After the war, Simons-Rosenheimer gave occasional concerts, composed cabaret songs and poetry. 230x175mm. 21 pages [+3]. Green marbled board Hardcover with cloth spine. Most pages slightly loose from binding, but still holding. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare book of poems by one of the most fascinating figures among Dutch-Jewish Holocaust survivors, is otherwise in good condition.
