RARE German translation of Delmedigo`s letter to Zerah ben Nathan (b.1578), the Karaite scholar, translated by Abraham Geiger (1810-1874), the German rabbi and scholar who led the founding of Reform Judaism. Joseph Solomon Qandia Delmedigo (also del Medigo, Yashar Mi-Qandia, Jacopo de Candia) (1591-1655) was a renowned and influential rabbi, author, physician, mathematician, and music theorist. Some worm-marks on inner cover penetrating into the pages inner edge - no damage to text. 1 small wormhole extending through pages 31-104 with slight damage to few letters of the text - text still readable. Ex-library copy with previous owner`s sticker (Heinrich Loewe) on front inner cover and small stamp on title page verso. Some pages upper edge water-stained - no damage to text. Pages V-VIII (preface) accidentally bound between page XXIV and XXV. Pages yellowing, some pages slightly age-stained.
