Description
FIRST EDITION! Joseph Roth (September 2, 1894 in Brody - May 27, 1939 in Paris) was an Austrian novelist, best known for his family saga Radetzky March (1932), and for his novel of Jewish life, Job (1930). His early novel "Hotel Savoy" is typical of his early creative phase, depicting in prose the psychology of his uprooted, hopeless, and hopeful hero (or anti-hero) Gabriel Dan in post-war Europe. 190x140mm, 145pp. Gray cloth Hardcover. Cover with gilt lettering, stained and yellowing with very lightly bumped corners. Spine gilt lettering has faded completely. Spine has small ink numbering on top edge. Spine hinges loose but holding. Pages very lightly yellowing. Several large age-stains on various pages, but most pages clean. Else in good condition, a remarkable and extremely rare first edition.
