Maroon leather hardcover with beautiful, elaborate gilt and black decorations on both covers, and on ribbed spine. Two large gold- colored locks adorn the cover. Inner cover edges also gilt decorated. Page edges gilt. Locks` gold coloring lightly dirty. Underside of lower lock pen marked. Lower lock slightly bent but still useable. Cover edges slightly worn. Both front and back covers detached. Spine edges slightly torn. Ex-libris of previous owner on inner back cover. Library code in white paint on spine bottom. Front end paper slightly tattered on lower corner. Small stamp on title page and last page. All pages slightly yellowing. Several pencil marks and pen marks in a few locations in the book (no damage to text). The book has suffered some unfortunate damage in the past, but it has not affected the impressive aesthetic design of this remarkable and extremely rare book.
