EXTREMELY RARE Jewish book printed in 19th-century Thessaloniki. The book is written in Judaeo-Spanish (Ladino or Judezmo), the language of the Sephardic Jews in the Ottoman Empire. The book is composed of homilies on various subjects by R. Abraham Palaggi, who was the chief Rabbi (Hakham Bashi) of Izmir. 200x155mm. 104 double pages. Marbled Hardcover. Cover and cover edges worn, bumped and peeling. Front cover partly broken. Spine partly missing and torn. Sticker traces on endpapers. Title-page partly detached from binding. Last page torn and partly missing. Pages yellowing and slightly age-stained. Page corners slightly bumped. [SUMMARY]: Despite the damage to its cover, this rare Sephardic book is internally in good condition.
