RARE collection of four long poems by the Jewish-Russian poet Yehuda Leib Levin (Yhl"l). The poems were published at the same year in Smolenskin`s periodical, Hashachar. During the 1870s, Levin was a socialist, who viewed the problems of the Jews within the Russian empire as being inherently economic. In his poems, he preaches against the capitalist system, and against the Rabbinical institutes which support it. 187x130mm. 54 pages. Green quarter-cloth Hardcover. Cover edges and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Spine and spine edges slightly rubbed. Inner cover age-stained. Title page bottom edge slightly torn. Stain on several pages bottom edge - no damage to text. Stamp on Hebrew title page. Few light age-stains on some pages. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This rare 19th century book of Hebrew socialist poems is in good condition.
