Description
TWO VOLUMES BOUND TOGETHER - RARE collection of important Jewish rabbinic exegetical works (Midrashim) in German translation by an eminent German Christian Hebraist Karl August Wünsche (1838-1912), who devoted his attention almost exclusively to rabbinic literature. Wünsche translated into German for the first time the whole of the Midrash Rabbah and the Midrash to the Five Megillot, haggadic portions of the Jerusalem and Babylonian Talmuds, as well as the Pesikta and the Midrash to the Psalms. 220x155mm. [IV+300] + [170] + [144] pages (altogether 618 pages). Grey cloth Hardcover with embossed spine and marbled text block edges. Cover curved and slightly stained. Cover and spine yellowing. Cover corners/edges and spine edges bumped. Spine wrinkled and stained. Spine upper edge tattered. Spine front hinge upper edge peeling. Front inner cover stained. Ex-libris sticker on rear inner cover. Binding slightly visible between last contents pages 142-143. First title-page slightly stained - NO damage to text. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare collection of Midrashim, of immense interest to students of Rabbinical literature, is otherwise in good condition.
